About Us

Krypton’s Origins:

When the COVID-19 crisis arose, it became clear that there was an urgent need for ventilators, both in the U.S. and globally.

Some countries have fewer than a dozen ventilators and need tens of thousands more.  Our team began leveraging its engineering expertise in designing cutting-edge ventilators to create more basic, accessible and affordable units. Our mission is to enable governments, NGOs, hospitals, and other health care organizations to address critical regional health care needs (such as COVID-19) with highly reliable, affordable medical equipment.

We have expertise designing other medical equipment as well. As we engage the global health system, we will evaluate the economics and performance of other devices, with an eye towards rapidly improving access to a wide range of medical equipment, equipment that is in short supply globally.

Access to necessary medical devices is a global issue. With this in mind, we serve the following markets:

  • Rural and community hospitals

  • NGOs

  • Developing countries’ health care systems

  • Countries’ international organizations (aid agencies, militaries’ humanitarian efforts)

  •  Governments’ emergency medical supply resources

Why our devices are different.

When we began our mission, we asked our team, “What critical functionality is needed in these devices, and how quickly and cost-effectively can we bring that to market?” We then set out to deliver our ventilator.

Jeffrey Stewart, one of our founders, and a leading innovator in the field of modern ventilator design, evaluated advances in off-the-shelf components used in mass-produced electronics and consumer products. Through this analysis he came to the conclusion that we could produce a ventilator for a fraction of the cost of existing ventilators. Additionally, our ventilators can also be more portable, reliable, and as small as a shoe box.

We are not wedded to the current way ventilators are designed, built and supplied.

We use a systems design approach. We start with a blank slate and ask, ”How should a device function to serve COVID and other patients?” and, “How can we best serve the healthcare systems within which the ventilators will be used?” This is critical to expanding access to medical devices. By doing so, we will map a comprehensive route for saving, sustaining, and regaining health on a global scale.

The vision for the company is to help critical care patients by designing, manufacturing and supplying FDA-cleared, value-priced medical devices that serve essential functions. Over the course of the next five years, we will extend our ventilator product line as well as introduce other devices.
